36 Hours Birthday...

First of all, Happy Birthday to myself \flowers :-)..

As i am in time machine (i mean, i crossed time zones), my birthday will long for 36 Hours. Being a week end, i started celebrations from 12 AM India time :-). Every time it starts with couple of phone calls from my family and friends, this time i opened my eyes at that time. So i started celebrating my self, i didn't give exception to bath though it is a week end and i took some breakfast and then i started cooking my own delicious tomato rice (it turned out some thing else at the end, even then its name is tomato rice)..

What next...will make couple of phone calls and take wishes from loving ones :)...will keep updating this post...

So here is the next part..

Night 12 was unexpected, I called many people and i got many calls and received many wishes. It was almost 3 when i went to bed, morning 5 AM i got a call and it was to wish me. So i woke up very early again. Thought of doing lot on that day, but rains wash away my hope..But i have managed to go to LiverMore temple(Of course all the credit should go to phani, who took me even though it was raining). Afternoon browsing and evening spent watching oscars...

Initially the title was "Life at Fremont", but i changed it because it sounds weird that one understood whole about the city in a week.

The 4 working days and 3 Holidays, 4 working days passed like 4 weeks and 3 Holidays like 3 hours. what the hell...? why is the working day sooo long? The answer is.."i will have to wait for few more days to understand if it continues"..

I landed at SFO airport on sunday at 9 PM. At 9:30, i was waiting for a cab at taxi stand opposite to airport. There were bunch of cabs standing in a long Q and picking up passengers. I was asked to stand in the very front and look for an American cab and its body painted with Orange and White. After good amount of confusion, a punjabi came and picked me up. This guy started talking about Advani's babri masjid issue and told me that it is not good. I said, there is nothing to discuss, politics are like that. Then he started about Ramsena.. Soon i realized that he is pakistani and not Indian. I didn't avoid, but decided not to discuss about communal issues. We were on a no mans land, it was pretty dark and conversation was getting pretty hotter. Not about politics, but about pranksters this time. He told me an incident, where a gun was spotted upon his head and narrated that incident in a most beautiful dreadful way..and continued.."ye log ek dollar ke liye bhi maar dete"..i was not sure if he is talking about my future in 5 minutes...

In 5 minutes, i reached my destination..I have been through lot of sucking (this is the better word to describe flight journey) journey, i raced to bed. Regular story started, i woke up in the morning and went to office. My god, day was sooo long and i thought its because, its a first day. But consecutive 3 days were no exception. I am no different from a child waiting for final school bell.

Finally all the 4 days were so long and all the cab drivers i have seen are Afghans. Now i understood, why Fremont is also called Mini Kabul. But Fremont is very much a diversified place. It has got lot of Asian population and Non-Asians too. But diversified is a positive word and it has other side as well, this city is rich in gangs and gangsters. Fremont is supposed to have good climate, but it was raining from the day i came here..even then Fremont seems to be another hyderabad with its diversity except for the fact that Fremont has got much disciplined traffic and my office is 20 minutes away from where i stay :-)

and the next 3 days, it was very fast. Though i did nothing, it was fast. I was working from home for the first 2 days and last day i had a little glance of city. We had long drive for around 50-60 miles away from city and visited my friends company at Alameda island(I hope i typed it right) and then marched to mall and then to bowling again..

The first week end

On the way to train –

I had a discussion with my manager today and left the office at 4:15 PM. I took a taxi to my room at village road east. I was only thinking about my confused state of mind. I always wanted to be clear when I talk in meetings or at any personal discussions. I am not as good as I am while writing something. Now I am in that confounded zone. I knew that my mind will not work properly in this state, today I realized that many parts won’t work. I reached 303, village road east at 5:15 PM and realized that I don’t have that 46 dollars in my wallet to pay taxi. I asked taxi to move towards any nearest ATM. On the way I checked my wallet again and noticed that I have got 200$ in my purse. I couldn’t understand what was going on. Now I took out keys and tried to open the lock. It wasn’t opening. I didn’t make it organized and it was completely locked. I have to reach the station at least before 30 minutes as I had much baggage. I am trying to open it and I called other person to help me and he declared that lock is broken. I called my roomies and took guidance from them and tried and tried and finally opened the lock. It was very embarrassing for me to undergo all these things. It started with a thought of confusion and ended up in embarrassment. Now I am in train station, but sitting as a loser here.

The Train journey from Boston to New Jersey

It was my first week end. I took a train from westwood station to Pen station and a connecting train from Pen to Metro station at New Jersey. I already made my brain think beyond its capacity, I no more want to do it. As soon as I got into train, I took a quick nap. I reached Penn station at 10:45 and I was given 10 minutes to catch the connecting train. Being a sharp guy, I travelled opposite to the tracks path. Ofcourse, I soon realized after 5 minutes. With a 23 KG’s baggage in one hand, another 8 KG’s one in another hand and a laptop bag on my back, it was no easy to catch a train. And atlast I was able to reach it. At 11:15 it took me to Metro station. I had my friends waiting there to pick me. We headed to Cheryl Street. I met many friends there but my eyes only on bed. I took some vodka and went to bed very soon.

The meet over the week end –

I hardly play games. Two reasons contribute for this behavior, one being the lazy ness and other being “people will notice that I am weak and how ever in other way my weak body doesn’t support games”. I use to play lot of chess and cricket during my childhood. I am a drop out. But I had no choice this time, we were the group of 9 and most of the people love games. We started with golf on Saturday and at the end I had this opportunity to learn “how to handle club”. Followed by bowling, again the first time, but I think this satisfied me better (I was bad but not worst). And then we planned a movie, which didn’t happen. The day ended with cards. Sunday, I can contribute only half day because I have to catch flight at 2:50 PM to Calif. We decided to play football near tennis court. During warm up, I was catching ball pretty well and this laid some impression to others that I can manage this game. I understood the game now and we were split into 2 teams each containing 3, again the same disappointing performance :-) . Barring performances, it was really good week end for me. I got promoted to front seat from audience seat. I wanted to convey hearty thanks to all my friends who were part of it. But my expressions in person will be very weak. It was altogether different week end for a person like me who hardly play games and would always enjoy his week end sitting behind computer/TV or participating in stupid discussions during week end. Again hearty thanks to all my friends (I am confident that one guy would read this blog). But no matter if no one reads it. So that is all for now, its Sudhie reporting from US airways on the way to Calif.

US - first impression

there was a post missing in the middle. It was about my visa processing day in chennai. After typing in detail, i thought it unnecessary and left it there in drafts.

My visa processing happened on 7th of January and i left hyderabad on Feb 1st early morning. It was my longest journey so far and more than interesting it was irritating many times. I got into flight at Hyderabad. after take off, crew supplied drinks and dinner. Took some red wine, food and nap. While landing, one guy started conversation and it was like this -
X - Is it your first time
me - first time to where (I do not want to reveal that it is my first travel. There is no offense, but there is no gain revealing truth as well :-))
X- To frankfurt
me - to franfurt, yea this is the first time to frankfurt
X- Oh this airport is so congested
me - ok ( I wanted to contain conversation here because his next question might be " which route you would take normally" :-))

then we exchanged tata good bye and i left to my terminal. Restrooms are so congested here and it can accomodate only one person at a time and there was long Q. I got my turn and refreshed myself by 10 AM. When i looked at the terminal gate, it was long Q. I rushed and got into Q taking out my passport and ticket. one black guy checked my passport and attested it and let me in. My ticket errored out when swiped, i was panic now. Airlines crew checked and informed me that this boarding Q is not for my flight :-(. It was little embarassing, but it was ok :-).

4 Hours in frankfurt was like staying there for whole day in terminal. I had this oppurtunity to sit at window side from Frankfurt to Boston. Sitting besides me was an European old day who does n't know good english. Everything was good except that she drank cheese again and again which was a bit difficult thing for me to digest. It was at the end i looked out my window,it was Atlantic Ocean followed by beautiful snow filled Boston. It was excellent view (At least for me, who is new to natural snow). Few moments later, Flight thundered on to runway. Later immigration, customs check went normal.

I took a bus from Logan Intl airport to Braintree instead of taxi just to gain some impression on the city and people. It lasted for 45 minutes and bus driver helped me out in getting a cab to my guest house. Cab person had tough time finding my address but he was soo patient until we find our apartment. Over all my observation is these guys has got very good helping nature.

Rest of my experience to be continued...
